My Travel Bucket List

The world has so many amazing destinations and breathtaking scenery that you could probably fill a travel bucket list with thousands and thousands of things to do and places to see. Although there are countless things I'd like to do in my life and many countries and cities I wish to visit, there are a few things that remain higher on my bucket list than most. Here's a list of ten things, (in no particular order) that top my travel bucket list.

1. Visit Victoria Falls

This beautiful set of waterfalls can be found on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is the largest waterfall on earth in terms of the area of the sheet of falling water. I've always wanted to visit the falls and check out devils pool, which is a small natural pool located at the top of the waterfall on the very edge. You can swim right up to the edge where you will be stopped by a submerged rock wall, (scary but cool).

2. Stay at The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah

Often called "The world's most luxurious hotel", the Burj Al Arab sits on its own private island in Dubai and is a self-acclaimed seven-star hotel. This ultra-posh property has rooms starting at 170 sq meters, (roughly 1,830 square feet), and rates generally start somewhere in between $1,000 - $2,000 a night. I would love to stay here sometime in my life.

3. Travel Across China by Train

I traveled to China in October of last year and had an excellent time, (you can read more about that in my previous post). I loved the trip and cannot wait to go back to China. There are a couple of things that really intrigue me about the country, one of them being how incredibly large it is. I feel like there's always a new city or region in China that I've never heard of but that looks fascinating. Another aspect of the country that interests me is how much of it is covered by high-speed rail. Below is a map of everywhere high-speed trains travel throughout the country. (there are many other rail routes that are serviced by non-high speed trains).

4. Vacation in the Maldives

This is one that I know is probably on many of your bucket lists. Picturesque blue water, overwater villas, beautiful scenery, what's not to love? The Maldives is a very popular honeymoon and tourist destination for its beautiful resorts and private islands retreats. I can't think of a better place to relax than in an infinity pool overlooking some of the bluest water in the world.

5. Venture to Alaska

Alaska has some of the most beautiful scenery in North America and is a destination I would truly love to visit. I've heard that due to its very sparsely populated nature, it can feel like you have the whole place to yourself when visiting many popular nature sites. Between nature, skiing, and northern lights, Alaska looks like a dream vacation.

6. Explore the Wonders of Dubai

While there are many, many cities I long to visit, Dubai has been towards the top of my list for a long time. Dubai is a city where you can kind of do whatever. Ski Indoors, go sand-boarding in the desert, visiting the world's tallest building, explore the man-made islands, and do so much more. The city reminds of Disney World for adults, and who doesn't love Disney?

7. Go on a Cruise to Antartica

Visiting every continent has always been something I've wanted to do. By the end of this summer, Antartica will be the last one to go! Visiting this remote continent can be difficult given the fact that it's, well, remote... Aside from an expedition, cruising to Antartica is one of the most popular ways to visit as a tourist. Cruises can be expensive but offer a chance to get up close and personal with beautiful landscapes and many exotic animals in their natural habitat. As a penguin lover, this is a must!

8. Take the Tran-Serbian Railway

The Trans-Serbian Railway is the longest railroad in the world, connecting Moscow with cities in the far east of Russia. It travels through some pretty cool cities, and treats riders to very scenic views. Want to take a train from Beijing to Moscow? You can! Below is a photo of the Trans-Serbian Railway route map, (many other cities can be reached on both ends such as London and Beijing via connecting trains).

9. Fly First Class (There are many I'd love to fly on)

There are so many outstanding first class products out there that I had a hard time choosing one. However, I would really love to fly Singapore Airlines's a380 first class, the new Emirates 777 first class, and Etihad's first class on their a380.

10. Visit the Seven Wonders of the World

Now, this could easily be listed as seven different things, but I would love to visit all of them. There are many lists today of different sets of the wonders of the world, there is the natural wonders of the world, ancient wonders of the world, industrial wonders of the world, etc. The most common one known today includes the following: The Great Wall of China, Petra, Christ the Redeemer, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, the Colosseum, the Taj Mahal, and the Great Pyramid of Giza as an honorary candidate being the last ancient wonder of the world to exist. I've been to the Great Wall of China and the Colosseum in Rome, but I got quite some traveling left to do.

So there you have it, ten things/places I'd love to do and see. I'm curious as to what many of you liked from this list and what tops your own bucket lists. Since there is so much to see and do in every country, I'll be putting out travel inspiration posts by region in the near future with things I'd love to do and amazing places to see on each continent, look forward to that soon!
